Tripura is a hilly state in north-eastern region of India. It is the third-smallest state in the country and is bordered by Bangladesh country to the north, south, and west, and the Indian states of Assam and Mizoram to the east. It has five mountain ranges—Boromura, Atharamura, Longtharai, Shakhan and Jampui Hills—run north to south, with intervening valleys.
Tripura has the highest number of primate species found in any Indian state. Tripura state is a cultural protected among all the north-eastern states. It has rich heritage and historical sites, temples going back hundreds of years, wildlife destinations and a thriving arts and crafts industry. It is famous for its beautiful rock cut carvings and stone images at Unakoti, Debtamura and Pilak. Mostly, these carvings are big in size and are made on vertical walls.
The Ujjayanta Palace, Agartala is an architectural marvel the state boasts about. The Bhuvaneswari temple is located at the banks of river Gomati and is one of the most worshipped places in the state. Also visit Tripura museum - archaeological artifacts. It has some famous wildlife such as Gumti Wildlife Sanctuary and Rowa Wildlife Sanctuary.The state has plenty of biodiversity hotspots for travellers.
